Welcome to These Old Dogs, a site dedicated to acknowledging and honoring the senior canine.   

Puppies just naturally grab all the attention. But as irresistible as puppies are, it is the older dog that holds such a special place in my heart.  The young shining eyes of mischief are replaced by soulful pools. And in those pools, there is so much wisdom, so much grace. I look into those eyes and I want to ask, “hey, what do you know, what have you seen, what secrets will  you share with me”?   

Sure, these old dogs are slower, take more time, need special care, but they seem to know they have paid their dues. They don’t have to do tricks for their treats and they don’t have to prove to the UPS man that he should stay OUTSIDE that front door. These old dogs have earned the right to simply sit and be.
